Bread Stuffing

INGREDIENTS :

  • 1 loaf of white bread
  • 2 tbsp sage
  • 1 tbsp thyme
  • 1 tbsp rosemary
  • or
  • 1 box traditional stuffing mix

  • 1/2 stick (50 g) butter
  • 5 oz (140 g) bacon, chopped
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 – 3 carrots, diced
  • 1 – 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 1 can (400 ml) chicken broth
  • 2 eggs

INSTRUCTIONS :

  • Cut the bread into 1/2 inch (1.5 cm) cubes, let them dry overnight then mix with spices. Alternatively, use store-bought stuffing mix.
  • In a pan, melt the butter then sauté the bacon until rendered. Add mirepoix (onion, carrot and celery) and cook until softened.
  • Mix everything in a bowl and stir in broth and eggs.
  • Fill the turkey and bake the remaining stuffing in an oven-safe dish at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes.
