- 1 loaf of white bread
- 2 tbsp sage
- 1 tbsp thyme
- 1 tbsp rosemary
- or
- 1 box traditional stuffing mix
- 1/2 stick (50 g) butter
- 5 oz (140 g) bacon, chopped
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 – 3 carrots, diced
- 1 – 2 celery stalks, diced
- 1 can (400 ml) chicken broth
- 2 eggs
Cut the bread into 1/2 inch (1.5 cm) cubes, let them dry overnight then mix with spices. Alternatively, use store-bought stuffing mix. In a pan, melt the butter then sauté the bacon until rendered. Add mirepoix (onion, carrot and celery) and cook until softened. Mix everything in a bowl and stir in broth and eggs. Fill the turkey and bake the remaining stuffing in an oven-safe dish at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes.
