Swedish Cinnamon Rolls

INGREDIENTS :

  • 1/2 batch of Vetebröd (Swedish Sweet Bread) (my recipe here)
  • 1/2 stick (50 g) soft butter
  • 3/4 cup (2 dl) sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1/2 cup (1 dl) pearl sugar

INSTRUCTIONS :

  • Prepare the dough as described and allow to rise until double the size (about 2 hours).
  • Flatten the dough with a rolling pin, spread with butter then dust with white sugar and cinnamon.
  • Roll it up tightly, cut into 1 inch (2.5 cm) slices and place them in baking cups or directly onto a lined baking sheet.
  • Prove until double the size (about 1 hour). Meanwhile, set the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with pearl sugar and bake until golden brown (10-12 minutes).
  • Cool on a rack under a kitchen towel.
