- 1/2 batch of Vetebröd (Swedish Sweet Bread) (my recipe here)
- 1 cup (2.5 dl) brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp corn or potato starch
- 1 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 stick (50 g) soft butter
Cream Cheese Frosting- 2 tbsp soft butter
- 2 tbsp cream cheese
- 1 cup (2.5 dl) powdered sugar
Prepare the dough as described and allow to rise until double the size (about 2 hours). Mix brown sugar, starch and cinnamon. Flatten the dough with a rolling pin, spread with butter and add the sugar mix. Press down on it lightly with the rolling pin to make it stick to the surface. Roll up the dough and cut it into 12 equal slices. Transfer to a lined 15 x 13 inch (40 x 30 cm) baking tray and prove until double the size (about 1 hour). Meanwhile, set the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare the frosting by stirring the ingredients until smooth. Bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes. Spread the frosting onto the rolls while still hot out of the oven.
These rolls are a heavily influenced by Cleobuttera’s recipe and I highly recommend her blog, which has beautiful pictures as well as great recipes.
