Homemade Granola

INGREDIENTS :

  • 5 cups (12 dl) rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup (1 dl) neutral oil
  • 1/2 cup (1 dl) maple syrup or honey
  • pinch of salt
  • any spices you like (I use cinnamon)
  • 1 cup (2.5 dl) nuts (optional, I use shredded coconut)

INSTRUCTIONS :

  • Set the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Mix oats, oil, syrup and salt in a non-stick baking pan.
  • Bake for 10 minutes, then stir and add nuts (if used).
  • Continue to bake and stir every five minutes until nice and golden (10 – 20 minutes more). If you want clumpy granola, flatten the surface toward the end and do not stir again after that.
  • Allow to cool completely before removing it from the pan (at least 40 minutes). Store in an air-tight container.

This recipe is a version of Cookie and Kate’s Healthy Granola Recipe, which is the first one I tried and have used for years.
