Not only a classic on the Swedish smörgåsbord, but also a great dish on its own. We like to serve it with creamed or baked potatoes and of course hovmästarsås.
This is a delicious cold sauce that goes especially well with cured or smoked salmon.
There are many ways to cook caramel candy. In Sweden, the most popular are chewy or brittle knäck with crunchy almonds (like that found in Daim) and smooth, soft smörkola (like Werther’s).

Roast turkey is at the center of many holiday dinners across the world, particularly during Thanksgiving and Christmas. In Sweden it is less common, but my father used to serve it for New Years Eve.
In our family, bread stuffing is the best part of the traditional turkey dinner. My version is a little different and inspired by European cooking.
Sweet and smooth, this casserole is reminiscent of dessert but goes amazingly well with turkey and gravy. Since we can never agree on pecan topping or marshmallows, we use both.
